Valentina Merline Robinson (1934–2024)

Valentina Merline Robinson passed at the age of 89 in Frisco, Texas surrounded by loved ones. Valentina was a quiet powerhouse—who might be described as a velvet hammer—she got things done with grace and eloquence. She was born in Panama City, Panama in 1934 to Gwendolyn Amelia Nicolas and Albert Augustus Nicholas whom she revered for their work ethic, ingenuity, and steadfastness. She attended school in the neighborhood of La Boca before moving to the United States and studying Sociology at Brooklyn College. She was passionate about her career with the U.S. Customs agency; dedicating her life to service and civic engagement was integral to Valentina’s everyday life. She always aimed to leave others better than she found them.

Valentina and Rudolph Robinson Sr. couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their children meant the world to them. Rudolph (Jr.), Rory (Tony), and Gina would attend enjoy many outings together, such as long road trips, or concerts at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Valentina treasured her time with her grandkids, and her friends were practically inseparable throughout their lives. She was also an active member of several churches and community groups, including The Dedicators, the Sentinel Society, and The Colony Senior Center.

Valentina will always be remembered for her pristine attention to detail and the sophisticated way she carried herself, but most of all—her warm heart. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. Valentina was preceded in death by her mother, Gwendolyn and her son Rudolph Jr.. She is survived by her son Tony and daughter Gina. A private memorial dinner was held on January 25, 2024 with close friends and family. Friends are welcome to make donations to a charity of their choice in Valentina’s memory.
