Valdemiro's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Valdemiro "Val / Miro" Santos, a loving husband, father, and friend, on August 16, 2025. Born on August 7, 1956, Valdemiro was embraced by his family, friends, and everyone privileged to know him. Valdemiro was predeceased by his son Paulo Jorge Santos, his father Joaquin Santos, his mother Ana Maria Santos, and his siblings Helder, Lafayete, Carlos, and Maria Santos. He is survived by his loving wife Elisabete, and their son Richard.
Valdemiro, an avid lover of Bacalhau a Brás and Licor Beirão, was primarily known for his strong character, kind heart, and cheerful demeanor. An ardent fan of Júlio Iglésias, Carlos do Carmo, Marisa, and many more, he was often seen playing Mario Kart 64 with his son. He was a keen observer of "Wheel of Fortune" & "Tela Novelas", and could never resist an action-comedy movie. An avid supporter of the Benfica soccer team, his love for sports was only surpassed by his love for recreational activities such as boating and spending quality time with friends, family, and his pets.
Valdemiro lived his life based on the philosophy of kindness, perseverance, and hope, believing in the existence of miracles even when faced with adversities. He was a caring, funny, and loving gentleman who would readily extend help to anyone in need. His legacy of resilience and love lives on; a man who battled two cancers simultaneously, won against one, and fought the second one valiantly for nearly 12 years. Even in his last moments, Valdemiro continued to be a beacon of hope, strength, and love to his family and friends.
His favorite vacation destinations were Portugal, Delaware, New Jersey Shore, Florida, and Bahamas. The color blue held a place of prominence for him. His life was a celebration of love, resilience, and joy. He raised a beautiful family, excelled in his career, and constantly put others before himself. These are just a few of his many accomplishments. Valdemiro was an intelligent man, admired and respected by many, always striving to protect and guide those he loved.
A Memorial service to celebrate Valdemiro's life will be held on August 23, 2025, at 7:00 PM at St Augustine Cathedral Parish. 399 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06604. We invite all to join us in remembering and honoring Valdemiro's legacy. In his memory, let us all strive to be kind to one another, for we never know what tomorrow will bring us.
