Valarie's obituary
Valarie Elaine Cooper (Hansen), of Fresno, passed away on August 6, 2023 at Clovis Community Hospital surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Valarie was born on September 22, 1957 in Fresno, CA. She grew up in Texas and moved to Tranquility when she was 16. She was a graduate of Tranqulity High School.
She was married for 39 years to the love of her life, Mark Cooper. She had one daughter, Allison Daly, who passed away in May of 2017. She was so proud of her grandaughter Tule, who called her Mimi. She spoke to her often through video chats. She had plans to move to Georgia to be closer to her before she got sick. She was also known as Auntie to Jackson and Jillian Scarborough and spent a great amount of time with them growing up.
She was a kind and generous person. She was known for her style, often seen in shades of purple, and always dressed to impress. Valarie was an amazing cook and her home was always welcoming and cozy. Valarie was passionate about wellness and nutrition, loved to read, decorate and plan parties. You could find her with a glass of red wine at the end of the day.
She most recently enjoyed working for Fresno County Elections. She took pride in the process of being a public servant. She had a long and successful career with PartyLite Candles and Southern Living at Home. Valarie was passionate about entertaining, cooking and Interior Design.
Valarie is survived by her husband Mark Cooper; granddaughter Tule Gallimore; sisters Victoria Salwasser and Daymi Lempesis; and brothers Joey Brewer and Ricky Brewer. Valarie was preceded in death by her daughter Allison Daly; her sister Terry Brewer Swieso; her father Franklin Hansen; her mother Virginia Lempesis.
A Celebration of Life for Valarie will be held at Villa Argento (5632 N Thompson Ave, Clovis, CA) on Saturday, September 23rd at 12pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Valarie's life.
