Uziel's obituary
Uzi Yoeli, 67, passed away on September 24, 2025.
Uzi was born on February 17, 1958 to Michael and Nehama Yoeli in Haifa, Israel. His father’s career as a professor allowed their family to live in numerous countries throughout his childhood, instilling in Uzi a life-long love to travel. A child math prodigy, he graduated from the prestigious Israel Institute of Technology at only 19 years of age. He pursued a successful career in high tech, where he met his wife, Eli Yoeli. Together, they raised their four children - Ori, Shelley, Limor, and Dor.
In 2000, they moved to Austin, TX, where they found a welcoming and loving community. Uzi completed a PhD in Finance at the University of Texas and became the Director of Risk Management at UTIMCO. Uzi was an avid traveler and a talented photographer. Most recently, Uzi and Eli got to hike Lake O’Hara in the remote regions of Canada, a long-term dream of theirs. Above all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his eight grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, nephews, and nieces. He will be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and intelligence. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice Austin’s Christopher House in Uzi’s memory.
