Tyler's obituary
Tyler passed away peacefully in his home at 76 years of age. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather, and a true servant of Christ.
Tyler was born in Colorado to Harry and Ruth Youngkin but grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. Tyler attended Central High in Phoenix where he wrestled and played baseball. As a baseball pitcher in high school and college, he was known for his hard to hit split-finger fastball. Tyler completed his undergraduate studies at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff Arizona where he met his wife, Constance (Vought). They were married in Tucson, Arizona in 1968. He completed medical school at the University of Arizona in Tucson in 1973, then moved his young family to San Diego, California where he and Connie settled in Poway and raised their children. Tyler spent his career as a pathologist at Mercy Hospitals in Hillcrest and Chula Vista, where he also served as Chief of the Pathology Department later in his career. In his fifties, he and Connie started a new endeavor ultimately opening and running a children’s home for abandoned and orphaned children in Tijuana, Mexico for eighteen years, changing the lives of hundreds of children over the years. Last year, due to health concerns, they moved back to the States to Idaho to be closer to their son and his family.
Tyler is survived by his wife Connie, children John (Quincy), Mariah (Jeff) Baughn, and Jessica White, and grandchildren, Evan, Cyrus, Charlotte, Cal and Rivers, and brother John. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Harry and sister Sara Lee Deacon.
Tyler will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, sense of humor, and ability to love all those around him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the San Diego Rescue Mission.
