I had a job with a trucking company about 8 years ago and they needed access to the Hurlong base close to Susanville - and I knew of Ty's past military experience .  So called him up and we had a few coffee and lunch times with the folks who needed to make the connection, and he facilitated that meeting.  Ty was a gentle guy with a tremendous background and very street smart and book smart as well - went to the Forum he created and really miss seeing him to catch up.

Ty gave me a job as his assistant for the NNN and NSF when I had just graduated school and the economy was in a bad place. He taught me a lot of skills that have served me well ever since. He was invested in my professional and personal growth and I loved working with him in his office upstairs. From cleaning red wine out of the printer to helping him write his memoirs, even morning spent with him was enjoyable. I will miss his warmth and friendly nature - he was easy to love and respect. My sincerest condolences for the passing of a great man and father.  I desperately wanted to attend his Celebration but I woke up with a cold and do not want to pass that to anyone attending. Thank you for giving me a chance to attend this special event.

Sincerely,

Maria Martines

My condolences to Ty’s Family and Friends. Ty made our community a better place because of his family’s history and ties, his involvement with Washington and world politics , the establishment of NNN and NSF, and his commitment to truth, understanding and story telling. He will be missed,

Annie Bidart

It was a great honor to serve with Ty Cobb in the Reagan Administration.  His energy, his can-do attitude towards every challenge, his honesty, and his integrity were valued by all -- including by the President.
