Twalib's obituary

Twalib Ali, born November 25, 1949 in Arima, Trinidad to "Najimoon" and "Muhammad", was the second of 7 children (4 sisters and 2 brothers).

He was known for playing soccer at Hillview in Trinidad and then migrated to the "Big Apple" (New York), to become an Accountant by Day and Guitar Player by night.

His time in the music industry with many great artists and celebrities fostered his talent for song writing. His guitar playing was self taught from the age of 3 and until the end, he never actually read music- he always learned and played everything by ear.

While in New York, he met the love of his life- Zaniffa aka "Jenny" at a Cony Island Fair and discovered that they shared the EXACT same birthday - November 25, 1949 so it must have been fate that brought them together. "Everything happens for a reason" and "nothing before it's time".

A short time later, after becoming a husband in what was Trinidad's LARGEST publicized wedding (over 1,000 people in attendance), he moved to Canada to start a new life abroad as a married couple.

A year later, he became a father and welcomed daughter "Kareema Nicole" in 1972 and then again in 1977 to his son "Cliff Reaz".

He was a dedicated Husband and Father with a trail blazing soul; always planning road trips, fishing trips, world travel and creating life experiences with his family and loved ones.

He became a coach to his son's soccer team and led the city of Pickering's team to the championship during his time. He did his best to be involved in anything his children were involved in.

His music career continued in the background as a hobby, creating a number of songs in both mainstream Country and Pop/Latin genres and religious channels through "Children of the Garden Records". His Inter-Faith commitment and charitable contributions are part of his faithful legacy.

He became a Father-in-Law officially in 2013 to Noordin (Jordan), and then officially became a Grandfather in 2015 to Miguel Noah Andani.

Many of his unique talents became magnified as a Grandpa or "Baba" as Miguel would call him. He was an expert on the BBQ, a mathematician that could calculate things at the speed of light in his head (without a calculator) and a master "fix it all" and gardener. He was well known for growing many vegetables including "tomatillo's" and HOT peppers from Carolina Reapers and Scotch Bonnets to Ghost Peppers and more.

Fun Fact: he had an extreme love for GLUE to fix all problems and had every type of glue imaginable in his tool box....and second to that, was his love for VICKS VAPORUB ! He truly believed VICKS Could cure every ailment. "Ancient Caribbean secret" :) But the true talent was his ability to make a corny joke (or song) out of any situation and was known as "Corny Pops" to many.

He was peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on August 29th, 2023 when he returned to our Creator, Almighty God. We thank everyone for the continued support, love and prayers.

Call It Heaven, Call it Home –

Song Written By: Twalib Ali

I’m not alone,

Even in darkness

I sing a very special song.

I seek refuge from evil and wickedness,

With the One whom I belong.

Very few will understand me

What I’m after,

Is eternity.

It’s a place, so far away,

Safe for kids to play.

This world is rough,

I’d say its tough.

Some folks are mean,

Others obscene.

And the very rich, they want you at their feet,

While the starving have nothing to eat.

But there’s God, we’re not alone,

He is with us, the Master of the throne.

Do not despair, He’s always there,

And believe me, He’ll take you home.

This is our goal,

Our future home.

Where believers will forever roam,

And there’s love, eternal love

Call it heaven, call it home...

Call it heaven, call it home.
