Tutu's obituary
Tutu Pridanonda, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that touched the lives of all who knew her. Born on June 25, 1958, in Bangkok, Thailand, to Boontum Chaisirikosin and Sawai Boontim, Tutu exemplified the virtues of leadership, kindness, and generosity throughout her life. Tutu’s maiden name was Sriprapa Chaisirikosin and she was the 3rd eldest out of 8 siblings: Uthaiwan (June), Anchhalee (Joom), Aksornsiri (Tuk), Apichart (Yai), Apisak (Lek), Kanyapark (Oh), and Adchara Chaisrikosin “Avila” (Ae).
Married for over 35 years to her late husband, Varavudh “Ood” Pridanonda, with whom she co-founded the esteemed "VS TIFFANY LAMPS INC," Tutu poured her heart and soul into their business, creating beautiful stained glass lamps that illuminated countless homes. Tutu and Varavudh met in Bangkok, Thailand, meeting at a jewelry store that Tutu worked at, and it was love at first sight. With the approval of her mother and family, Tutu & Ood moved to the United States in 1978. They first settled in Houston, Texas with her aunt, Krisana Silva, before moving to Bellflower, California shortly after. Ood took Tutu’s hand in marriage at a small chapel in Las Vegas, NV in 1980. In 1988, they embarked on a new chapter in Walnut, California, where they bought their second home and raised their daughter, Tiffany Pridanonda (born Oct 31, 1989), who meant the world to her. Tutu lived with her daughter and husband in Walnut until they moved to Pomona, California in 2012, Tutu’s last place of residence. After Varavudh’s unexpected passing in 2013, Tutu became the rock and foundation for her household, acting as both mom and dad to Tiffany. She later found companionship through her partner, Charlie “Lek” Kespradit, who cares for Tiffany as if she were his own daughter. Tutu and Charlie were together for over 10-years and they enjoyed singing together at various events, visiting the temple, and caring for Mochi.
Tutu's selflessness knew no bounds; she consistently prioritized the needs and happiness of others above her own. Whether as a devoted mother, a loving wife, or a dedicated educator at the Wat Thai Temple of Los Angeles from 1995 to 2005, where she eventually became principal in 2004, Tutu's impact was profound and far-reaching. Tutu also volunteered extensively at Tiffany's schools and Girl Scouts adventures by providing fun activities and crafts for the students during classes. She was crafty, artistic, and resourceful. Since Tiffany’s birthday is on Halloween, Tutu would also sew and make all of Tiffany’s costumes when she was younger. I Whenever there was a holiday or Tiffany’s birthday, Tutu would always go above and beyond with the festivities through decorating and planning events, it brought so much joy to her and the family, each year.
In addition to her roles as a businesswoman and educator, Tutu excelled in various managerial positions and was certified in medical billing, esthetics, and poker card dealing. After closing her business “VS TIFFANY LAMPS INC” in 1993, Tutu went on to hold several management positions at establishments like: Pizza Hut, CEC Entertainment, Funcoland, DD’s Discount, and AJ Tools. Towards reaching her retirement, Tutu wanted to achieve a less strenuous worklife, so she sought to become a Poker Room card dealer at San Manuel Casino and Pechanga. at Yet, amidst her busy schedule, she always found joy in singing, dancing, gardening, sewing, and doting on her cherished companion, Mochi, the family’s beloved dog.
Tutu's sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of many, but her memory will continue to inspire acts of kindness and generosity for generations to come. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unwavering love, boundless compassion, and indomitable spirit. She will be survived by her daughter, Tiffany, and her future son-in-law, Daniel Kuo, whom she loved like her own son. Like the flowers and plants that she loved growing, she loved and nurtured every being on this earth. Her garden of love will live on in our memories and in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband - Varavudh, her mother - Sawai, her eldest sister - Anchalee “Joom”, and her younger brother - Apichart “Yai” in the embrace of the divine. “I’ll love you forever & always, until we meet again, my dearest Mom” -Tiffany
