Truman's obituary

Truman “Lee” Short went to be with our Heavenly Father on January 11,2024 peacefully in his sleep. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Lee was born on June 4, 1947, to Howard and Willie Short in Fort Worth, Texas. When Lee was 6 years old his family moved to Flagstaff, Arizona where they lived until he graduated from Flagstaff High School in 1965. After High School Lee attended The University of Arizona on a Football scholarship. While in college Lee and his best friend Kevin decided that if they enlisted in the Army together as Military Police they could choose where to go together, and they would not be sent to Vietnam because there were no MPs in Vietnam. This worked for a while until they were both sent to Vietnam where they were separated. As it turns out there were MPs in Vietnam.

In November of 1968 Lee married the love of his life Marilynn McFall at The Nativity of the Blessed Mary in Flagstaff. Lee and Marilynn went on to have two children, KimberLee and Kevin. Lee and Marilynn were married for 55 years.

After Lee got out of the Army, he and Marilynn moved to Phoenix then Tucson and later to Lakeside where Lee went to work for Marilynn’s brother in his Dental Lab. He worked there for 25 years before he took over the business in 1998. Lee ran it with his son until he retired in 2013.

Lee loved to hunt, fish, and go on wood cutting trips with family and friends. Lee also loved going to Roosevelt and spending time on the boat. He was a mountain of a man at 6’5”. He intimidated most everyone that shook his giant hands. The only people Lee did not intimidate were his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren who only saw his giant heart. They could do no wrong in “Papas” eyes. Lee was a Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Brother-in-Law, Uncle and Friend to many.

Lee was preceded in death by his father and mother, Howard and Willie, his sister Ann, brother Eddie, sister Katie and daughter KimberLee.

Lee is survived by his wife Marilynn, son Kevin (Amanda), brothers Richard (Cree), Tommy, sister Kathy (Frank), brother Dennis (Tonya). Grandchildren Bailey (Drew), McKinlee and Rylee. Great Grandchildren Raylee, Ashtyn, and Walker. Also, numerous other family and friends.
