Truman's obituary
Truman Meissner, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and educator, passed away on May 21, 2023. He was born on February 1, 1948, to the late Theo and Mary Lou Meissner.
Truman is survived by his wife, Doretha Meissner; his children, Robin Johnson and Chase Meissner; and his cherished granddaughters, Shamira Peters and Sophie Johnson and grandson Caleb with a host of great grandchildren.
He graduated college and pursued a career in education in Texas. Truman dedicated 36 years of his life to teaching and coaching, impacting countless students and athletes. He retired in 2005, leaving a remarkable legacy in his field.
A devout Christian , Truman was a man of faith who cherished his relationship with God. He had a warm, witty, and polite personality that endeared him to everyone he met. Truman believed in accountability for our actions at all times, a valuable lesson he imparted to those around him.
Truman's favorite foods included chicken fried steak, and he loved to enjoy a cold coke or iced tea. He was a fan of Garth Brooks' music, and he enjoyed watching Law and Order. In his free time, Truman cherished moments spent with family and friends, golfing, and attending political events. He loved vacationing in Galveston and had a fondness for the color green.
His legacy of strength, endurance, and grit will live on through his loved ones. Truman's presence will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched throughout his teaching and coaching career.
