Truitt's obituary
Our beloved husband, father, great + grandfather, brother and dear friend, Truitt Neil Works, departed his earthen vessel and entered into God’s Eternal Kingdom on December 20, 2025.
Truitt was born on September 28, 1935 to B.J. & Ceola Works. He was the second oldest to 5 brothers, Bud, L.T., Jerry, Maurice and Vic, along with 1 sister, Lovena Kay.
Truitt enlisted in the military as a Marine in 1953, serving 10 years mostly stationed in California, and was decorated with 4 Medals: United Nations, Korean Service, Good Conduct (1st Award) and National Defense Service. He worked on jet engines and was extremely proud of his time serving, he was always sharing so many stories of his adventures.
Truitt went on to work for Texas Power & Light, he owned his own electrical company with Doug Kendrix and the final hat of his career was at the City of Garland Control Center, where he eventually retired.
Truitt fell very "Lucky in Love" with Helen Gleaves when they were teens, and eventually married in 1955 after serving time in the Marines. Together they started a beautiful family of 3 boys, Jerry, Neil, Jeff and 1 daughter, Donna, planting their roots in Garland, TX.
Their family extended and they were blessed with grandchildren. Donna's children: John, Christy, Helen and Truitt Glover, Neil's children: Brandi. Jerry's children: Jeremy and Heather. Jeff's children: Liea, Marshall, Amanda and Cameron.
Truitt & Helen were married for 42 years, at which time he was widowed. During the difficult time of losing Helen, God ordered a reconnect of a once childhood friend, Hulene Bailey.
Truitt & Hulene were married in 1998 and our family gained a new matriarch, along with a new sister and more grandkids, Denise and her children: Stacy and Sterling.
Truitt is survived by his wife Hulene Works, his daughters, Donna Glover and Denise Spell and his sons, Neil Works and Jeff Works. He has many grandkids and even great great grandkids, nieces and nephews, and many friends - he never met a stranger.
Truitt loved deeply and was loved deeply. He is dearly missed but we are comforted by the fact that we know he is in heaven with King Jesus, reuniting with other loved ones who have been promoted to heaven. You are always in our hearts, thank you for a life of love, service and honor. To God be the Glory for every good thing!
2 Timothy 4:7-8:
"I have fought the good and worthy and noble fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith [firmly guarding the gospel against error]. In the future there is reserved for me the [victor’s] crown of righteousness [for being right with God and doing right], which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that [great] day—and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved and longed for and welcomed His appearing."
