Trudy's obituary

Trudy Louise Plauche, age 67, passed away on February 5, 2025 from complications due to dementia. She was born in New Roads, Louisiana on June 5, 1957, to Marceline and Richard Plauche, who preceded her in death.

She was a vivacious character in every sense of the word and was known for her warmth, generosity, courage, and the undeniably loving spirit she brought into the world. She spent her life taking care of others as both a registered nurse and as a shining example of maternal love and compassion to many along the way.

Trudy is survived by her children, Andrea Menard, Matthew Songy, Lance Songy, and Rebecca Songy, her goddaughter Katie Patin, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Rylee Menard, Harper Menard, Ava Menard, and Zachary Songy. She is adoringly remembered by her companion, David Rex Averill. Trudy also leaves behind a brokenhearted group of loved ones, including her siblings Lena (Ronnie) Jewell, Ted (Brenda) Plauche, Peggy (Randy) Vosburg, Ricky (Lori) Plauche, many nieces & nephews, her former spouse Kirk Songy, and countless friends. Her sister Cathy Plauche is joyfully receiving her in heaven.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor at New Roads Methodist Church in New Roads, Louisiana on Friday, February 28, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM.

We kindly request colorful attire & accessories for the celebration. In lieu of floral arrangements, please consider donating a live plant for her remembrance garden, as a lasting tribute to her love of gardening.

Trudy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her - except for the bulls she “baited” into her back yard the summer she turned 12, who then promptly treed her for hours. The dislike there was mutual.
