Trudy Ann Symes McGrady, 81, of Mystic, CT, passed away on July 29, 2024.

Trudy was born on March 23, 1943 to Gertrude and Clarence Symes in Abilene, TX.   After graduating John Marshall High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Trudy attended college  and was one of the first female students accepted at Texas A & M University in 1964.  

Trudy met her future husband, Michael, "Mickey" McGrady in junior high school and they began dating. Trudy married Mickey, her high school sweetheart on January 27, 1964, and became the of mother of 3 daughters, Alissa Symes McGrady Smith, Cassie Maria McGrady,  and Maryanne McGrady Aluzzo.

In 1974, Trudy and Mickey relocated from Texas to a small town on the Delaware River in upstate New York, where they raised their family for many years.  First and foremost, Trudy was a dedicated mother, grandmother of 9, and great-grandmother of 8. Trudy was beloved by her family and friends for her warmth, her kindness, and her generous heart. She was an excellent homemaker and enjoyed the family home overlooking the Delaware River where she often hosted meals for family and friends.  Over the years Trudy did much charity work, caring for the elderly and ill members of her church and local community. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. 

Trudy was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Maryanne McGrady Aluzzo in 2022. She is survived by her husband Michael McGrady, her brother C. Scott Symes, her daughters Alissa Smith and Cassie McGrady, grandchildren, Alexander Smith, Sarah Peregrim, Kristina Smith, Bryant Smith, Julia Smith, Laura Smith, Aliyah Davis, Zoe Myers, Bella Aluzzo, and great grandchildren Melanija, Aoife, Kayleigh, Sonja Peregrim, Augustus and Forrest Myers, Finn and Theia Smith.

There will be a private celebration of life at a future time.
