Troy's obituary

Troy Anthony Parker, age 61, resident of Greenwood, passed away due to complications of having multiple myocardial infarctions on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Self Regional hospital.

He was the son of the late Willie Gaillard "Gilly" and Brenda Davis Parker. He was an only child, but had numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his daughter, Candice Parker Loden and fiance' J. Daniel Dunaway of Greenwood; granddaughter, Sarina J. Loden and her father J. Todd Loden of Anderson; step-grandchildren, Abigail and Elijah Dunaway of Clinton; special close friends, A. Brooks and Christina Gresham and W.M. "Mick" Walker; daughter from another family, Topeka Coleman; and all of The Willows and Country Homes subdivision neighbors/friends of past and present.

He was born with a visual impairment called juvenile (x-linked) retinoschisis which rendered him legally blind The disease was progressive. Despite this, he spent the majority of his life making a living doing lawn mowing and yard work for others, being an avid ebayer since 2002, and was employed short term by Parke-Davis in the late 80's.

He thoroughly enjoyed being a movie buff, listening to music of all genres, the art of haggling on ebay, doing outdoor work, building/working on computers for others, and especially being a collector of many things, particularly colognes/perfumes, DVD's, CD's, and vinyl records. He also had quite the fascination with tools, clocks, flashlights, and retro items. He loved to try new food, drinks, any new product that he felt would suit his needs, and especially liked anything that smelled nice. You name it and if it smelled good to him, he enjoyed it! Above all, he simply enjoyed the company and camaraderie of others. He put deep importance on having gatherings to be able to spend time with his loved ones and friends. He would help anyone he could within his means, even if it meant putting himself in a worse position.

There are no arrangements at this time, but will be made and announced at a later date. Please consider making donations or memorials to Foundation Fighting Blindness at https://donate.fightingblindn… or to the American Heart Association at https://www.heart.org/
