Tristan's obituary
Tristan Lane Johnson
Born: December 30, 1996 – End of Watch: April 24, 2025
Shawnee, Oklahoma – Hope, Arkansas
Tristan’s End of Watch came on April 24, 2025, in Hope, Arkansas, marking the close of a life lived with purpose, courage, and unwavering dedication to others. A devoted firefighter, husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Tristan left an unforgettable mark on every life he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 8, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Life Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Guests are encouraged to wear red in honor of Tristan, a true firefighting hero.
Born on December 30, 1996, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, Tristan was full of personality and purpose from the start. At just three years old, he would proudly say, “When I grow up, I’m going to be a firefighter and play for the New England Patriots.” While the football dream stayed in his heart, firefighting became his mission—and one he fulfilled with excellence. He graduated from Bethel High School in 2016, and in his first year as a firefighter, he was honored with both Rookie of the Year and Firefighter of the Year—a powerful reflection of his dedication and heart.
He lived life out loud—with joy, loyalty, and a smile that everyone remembers. Though he often came off as shy, he never met a stranger. He had a natural way of making people laugh, telling it like it was, and showing up for others with everything he had.
Tristan joked for years about not needing a driver’s license because “people will just drive me around,” but when he found out he was going to be a father, he got that license at 19 and never looked back. Being a dad was one of his greatest joys and biggest motivators.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and lived with a servant’s heart. He spent most of his life in Oklahoma, with a short time in Texas, and then moved to Arkansas to complete fire academy and pursue his calling in full.
When he wasn’t working or outside four-wheeling, hunting, or fishing, Tristan loved gaming—he was a huge Xbox player and could hold his own in just about any game. Sports were another passion: football, basketball, baseball, and softball filled many of his days, both as a player and a fan. And yes, he loved his truck almost as much as he loved making people laugh.
Tristan is survived by his parents, Robert and Kristi Johnson; his sister, Courtney Johnson; his aunt and uncle, Nancy and David Blume; his wife, Cynamon Johnson; and their two children, Hadley and Pierce. He also leaves behind three other children, Hudson, Tatum, and Greyson; nephews Jace and Jax Benson; great-grandmother Charlotte Lane; grandparents Vonda & James Bryce and Randall & Susie Jeffries; aunts and uncles Robyn & Taylor Hinson (and their children Liam and Ada Jo); as well as many great aunts, uncles, cousins, fellow firefighters, and lifelong friends.
Tristan, your watch may have ended, but your impact lives on. You were a light in every room, a true protector, and a man loved by all who knew you.
