Tricia's obituary
Tricia DeFay, 49, an established resident of Illinois, passed away on June 14, 2024 in Niles, Illinois.
Tricia was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the late Aliette DeFay:
Aubain. Tricia was a loving daughter, sister, and more importantly mother to her son Tristen DeFay-Leconte. Tricia dedicated her life's work to serving her community in the healthcare industry as an experienced Radiology and CT Technologist for St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois and most recently promoted to Director of Imaging & Transport Services at Humboldt Park Health Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Tricia immigrated to the United States in October 1980 and resided in the Chicagoland area with her mother, step-father, and siblings.
Prior to dedicating her life to healthcare, Tricia was an incredibly talented basketball player who developed her love for the sport through community competitions and collegiate basketball.
Inspired by Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, she won numerous accolades, including a notable three-point competition, and was often featured in local publications for her skills. Her greatest accomplishment was gifting the game to her son at a high level.
Tricia became interested in the healthcare industry through her studies as a radiology technician. She later advanced her academic career and earned her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Leadership and her MBA in Healthcare Services from the University of St. Francis. Tricia was an exceptional leader, author, and educator, who exemplified the Mamba Mentality by pushing herself to be the best when pursuing her goals. Her unwavering passion for her work touched the lives of countless patients and team members.
Tricia was immensely proud of her son, Tristen. Her greatest joys was spending quality time with him and her nieces Maya, Serena, Corinne, and Lily. She also enjoyed practicing yoga, following basketball and watching her favorite baseball team, the Cubs.
Tricia left behind an amazing legacy of accolades, accomplishments, and sweet memories for her family and son to remember.
