Travis's obituary

Travis Brackey, 45, of Central City, CO, passed away on March 10, 2024  at St Anthony Hospital Wheat Ridge Colorado.

The eulogy read at his celebration is posted in comments under JSpain

Travis was born on June 8th, 1978  at St. Anthony Hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota to parents William and Lori Brackey. He graduated in 1996 from Nederland High School in Nederland Colorado.  He went into work at various casino's including The Teller House, The Gilpin, Mardi Gras, The Lodge and Isle of Capri.  Starting as a line cook he moved into the slot dept as a technician and later into slot management.                Travis can only be  described as a Mountain Man, living in the mountains of Gilpin County from age 10 until his death.  He lived most his childhood near the top of Mt. Thorodin and walking from the bus stop  at the bottom of Wedgwood Rd.                      He enjoyed snow boarding and watching his two favorite football teams The Denver Broncos and The Minnesota Vikings but his passions were dirt biking with "The Gang".  For his own amusement he was always sharpening his sarcastic wit on an unsuspecting receiver.  To know him was to know how his humor came with a sideways look, a devilish grin or a deadpan statement. They are what you see or hear when you think of him.  He is also remembered as being a kind, compassionate, down to earth person and will be truly missed by so many. Travis's true loves were his dogs, siblings Dakota and Cheyenne he raised from small puppies to gracefully releasing them 16 years later.  From her puppy hood and during his hardest years he had Kenya aka Boo beside him until she preceded him in death by a few months at age 13. Surely if there is a Rainbow Bridge they've already found each other.     It is with no doubt that the one all powerful love in his life was his daughter Riley J Brackey.  To see him interacting with her was totally amazing.  Only she had the power to reach him at his deepest depths and uncensorize him, he loved her so much.                    Travis fought a long hard struggle the last few years of his life.  Though some days seem unbearable to get through knowing he's no longer with us there is peace and closure in knowing he is no longer in pain and suffering.

Travis was predeceased by his father William Brackey, grandparents Joice and Norrie Brackey,  Edward and Elaine Doyle, uncle Ronald Doyle, uncle Randy Brackey.  He is survived by his mother Lori Doyle, sister Billie Jo Hodack, aunt Colleen Nelson and uncle Todd Brackey.            His cremated ashes will be spread along his favorite biking trails.       There will be a virtual Celebration of Life on June 8th at the Elks Lodge in Central City, CO from 2-4 MDT, streaming will begin 2:30 until 3:15.

Due to the unexpected and suddenness of Travis's passing we are asking for help by way of donations to help pay accumulating expenses https://everloved.com/life-of… In lieu of flowers or other gifts if you would like to donate to a chosen animal shelter Let Love Live MN or for his daughters trust fund please add a note to your donation.  Thank you very much, Lori
