Tracy's obituary

Tracy Rutledge Post, Sr., 90, passed away on Saturday, July 24, 2021, in his home in Orlando, FL, with his loving wife, Teresa, by his side. Born July 8, 1931, in Mineola, NY, Tracy grew up in Astoria, NY. Tracy is predeceased by his wife Dorothy (née Kelly), his sister Lillian E. Baldissard of Riverhead, NY, and Orlando FL, and his sister Jewel H. Bacyk of Orlando, FL.

Tracy was patriotic, with a strong desire to serve his country; in 1946, he joined the New York Army National Guard where he served for several years. In 1952, Tracy and Dorothy married and settled in Riverhead, NY. As their family grew, they moved to Astoria where they raised their four children.

In 1995, Tracy met his second wife, Teresa, with whom he spent the last 26 years of his life. Tracy raised Teresa’s young son, Sebastian, and later officially adopted him. They moved to Orlando in 1998 to join Tracy’s two sisters.

Tracy will be remembered as an Architectural & Ornamental Ironworker with Local Union 580. He did all aspects of ironworking, working for many companies that spanned five-plus decades. As a Project Superintendent with Plaza Construction, Tracy was known for his kindness and strong work ethic and was beloved by his family, friends and colleagues. Among the many buildings he worked on during his career were 55 Water Street, Park Avenue Plaza at 55 East 52nd Street, Equitable Tower at 787 Seventh Avenue and Random House Tower at 1745 Broadway.

Tracy is survived by his wife Teresa, his daughters Kathleen E. Post of Jersey City, NJ and Dorothy L. Post of Mineola, NY, his three sons Tracy R. Post. Jr. of Babylon, NY, Harold R. Post of Goshen, NY, and Sebastian J. Post of New York, NY, and his seven grandchildren, Roger, Kelly, Emma, Melissa, Kyle, Samuel, and Mark. An internment service was held at Westbury Friends Cemetery in Westbury, NY on Friday, July 30, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Heart Association.
