Tonya's obituary
She attended and graduated from Hyde Park High in 1976. After graduating, she went on to work as an administrative assistant and billing coordinator for several companies in the Boston area. Those companies were, Boston Water and Sewer, Urban Medical Group, University Hospital and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Tonya lived a full life as a wonderful daughter, sister and aunt. She was a woman of faith who leaned on the word of the Lord to carry her through the good days and the bad. Although she was not skilled in cooking, she always brought great conversation to the table. Even though she couldn’t hold a tune and often forgot the lyrics, it didn’t stop her from using her voice. She devoted much of her time caring for others, one of which was her mother, Bernice, until she passed in 2005.She worked for the city of Boston as a crossing guard for the past 5 years, which she highly enjoyed because of the children she encountered daily. She also enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends, reading, listening to music, and singing.
Tonya is survived by her father William Bennett, sister Kim Bennett, brother Reginald Thomas, and her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved and touched deeply. Her words of wisdom, encouragement, humor, and kindness will be remembered and cherished by her family and friends. She will be sorely missed.
