Tony's obituary
Tony Andre Martin passed away on February 18 , 2022 from congestive heart failure. He was 51. He died peacefully with family by his side.
Tony was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 14, 1970 to Harrison and Barbara Martin. The youngest of 4 siblings, he was doted on and affectionately spoiled by his family while growing up. He married Lynn Wells on October, 16, 1992 & despite their divorce, they remained close friends until the end. Together they raised 2 daughters, Ashleigh and Keely and shared a granddaughter, Athena. While packing up their father’s belongings his children found a To Do list he had written. The main item listed was to get hugs and kisses from Ashleigh and Keely. Thankfully, he had a chance to do just that as Lynn and his girls were Tony’s main caregivers during the last few weeks of his life.
Tony was well known for his jovial and carefree nature. He had many varied interests and hobbies including woodworking, barbecue, cb radios and tending to his roosters. He could often be found with a lovable pitbull by his side. In his younger years, Tony played many different sports and later began riding motocycles and restoring vehicles. He was a skilled handy man and mechanic who could spend all day working on his daughter’s car. For several years he was also a caretaker for his fiancee, Sherry Garnett and her mother, Shirley during their illnesses. Tony will be remembered for his sense of humor, stubborn will and the fun times spent with loved ones. His family will sorely miss the wise cracking and witty banter he was known for.
Tony was predeceased by his parents, Harrison and Barbara Martin; fiancee, Sherry Garnett; mother in law, June Wright; grandparents, Wash and Erma Mayberry and Louise and Tony Foster. He is survived by his daughters, Ashleigh (Lonnie) Wilson and Keely (Tim) Martin; granddaughter, Athena Wilson; brother, Sonny Martin; Sisters, Debra (Bill) Hendrix and Chrissy (Pete) Hollis; nieces, Tiffani (David) Salembier, Kirstie (Ozzy) Hale, Andrea Hollis, Brandy (Tony) Welch; Nephew, William Hendrix and former wife, Lynn Wells Martin.
A memorial will be planned at a later date.
