Tommie's obituary

Tommie Jeanne Lindsey, lovingly known as “TG,” of Wichita Falls, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by the love of those who cherished her most.

Born on May 9, 1942, to Walter and Jeanne Mitchell, Tommie lived a life beautifully rooted in unwavering faith, deep love for her family, and a servant’s heart for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Mitchell and Jeanne Mitchell; her brother, Freddy Mitchell; and her sister, Donna Meeks Morton. She is survived by her devoted husband, Donald Lindsey; her daughters, Kris Gamez and her late husband, Jim, and Tracie Giles and her husband, Mark; her beloved grandchildren, Carleah Williams, Lauren Giles, Taylor Giles, Sam Gamez, and Mike Gamez; and six precious great-grandchildren who brought her endless pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother, Jimmy Mitchell, and her sister, Annette Simmons.

Tommie’s greatest joy and highest calling was her family. As a devoted stay-at-home mother, she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She later continued that same nurturing spirit through her work at her church daycare, where she touched countless young lives with kindness and care. A faithful member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, she gave generously of her time, lifted her voice in the church choir, and lived out her faith daily in quiet, meaningful ways.

She found joy in the simple, beautiful things—sewing, crafting, and preserving memories through scrapbooking. Her kitchen was a place of comfort and connection, where her famous pumpkin bread and fudge became expressions of love shared with family and friends. Tommie will always be remembered for her contagious laugh, her gentle spirit, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued, and at home.

Her life was a testament to her faith, reflected in her favorite scripture:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you.” — Joshua 1:9

A Christian memorial service will be held to celebrate Tommie's life at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 4605 Cypress Ave, Wichita Falls, TX 76310.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Though our hearts are deeply broken, we find peace in knowing she is now whole, healed, and rejoicing in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, love, and kindness will live on in all who knew and loved her.
