It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Deacon Tomie Washington, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend whose gentle heart and radiant spirit left a lasting imprint on all who encountered him. Born on April 9, 1945, Tomie concluded his earthly journey on June 24, 2025, leaving a profound legacy of love, faith, and resiliency.
Tomie is survived by his devoted sons, Omar and Lamar Washington; his loving daughter, Legatha Fuller; his cherished daughters-in-law, Kimmy and Jasmine Washington; and his treasured grandchildren, Tristan, Skylar, Jordan, and Tiana Washington.
Born to the late L T And Rosie Lee (Harris) Washington In Minden, Louisiana, he joined Mt Comfort Baptist church at a young age he was united in holy matrimony with his high school sweetheart to the union one child was born Mrs. Legatha(Fuller) Washington.
After that he moved to the Bay Area where he met Ms. Shirley Ann Collins and was united in holy matrimony to this union two children were born, Omar and Lamar Washington. He leave's to cherish his memory's 3 Childern, 6 grand children, 3 Sisters and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Each of them remembers him as a steady source of love, wisdom, and laughter, and will continue to honor his memory in their everyday lives.
Tomie was a deeply spiritual man, serving faithfully as a Deacon at the First Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. His faith served as the compass for his life, guiding him through life's greatest trials and joys. His enduring belief in God and the divine plan comforted and inspired all those around him.
Known for his calm, cool, and relaxed demeanor, Tomie had a unique ability to make those around him feel at ease. His quick wit and sense of humor were infectious, making any gathering brighter just by his presence. His favorite pastimes included fishing, camping, riding motor cycles and playing pool — activities that he often enjoyed with his children and grandchildren and that will forever be cherished memories.
A lover of life's simple pleasures, Tomie's favorite food was spaghetti, a dish he often shared with his family amid laughter and warmth.
Tomie's life was a testament to his belief in hard work, unwavering faith, and the power of love. His central lessons were simple yet profound: Believe in God, work hard, and trust that God has a plan for everyone. His legacy will continue to live on in the lives he touched, whispering these words of wisdom in the hearts of his family and friends.
