Born on September 7, 1956 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the son of the late Opa (Emil Pittner), and Oma (Friedl Pittner).
Tom, the 2nd child of 4, grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba with one older brother (Roland), a younger sister (Karin) and a younger brother (Randy). Home life was was a struggle for Tom as him and Roland were the typical brothers that always fought. Tom and Karin were 2 very different people and had very little in common. Tom and Randy, more alike than not had their moments but throughout life they always had a special bond. Tom loved his mother (Oma) Friedl and that love only grew stronger for her as the years passed by. His father (Opa) Emil was a difficult man and Tom was never one to like being told what to do and decided to leave home at a young age.
Tom lived his life on his terms. His passion was riding and during his life he had made many friends as he travelled throughout Canada meeting many people from many different walks of life.
We loved to listen to him tell stories of his past. As the world evolved those stories always gave us a sense of adventure and we could just visualize Tom living and love of life.
He met the love of his life (Linda) in Calgary and they both said “I do” in March of 79… shortly later their only chid was born a daughter (Jessica). Tom’s life of being a wild and free young man we’re over. He now was a husband and father, a family man and his girls were what he lived for.
Tom, loved his Harley's as if they were his children. He enjoyed having coffee with the "boys", watching the History Chanel and telling you how to do it right the first time.
Tom had a lengthy career as a heavy equipment operator, until he was medically retired. Due to a back injury. He loved getting away and always looked forward to a trip to BC or Jamaica.
Tom was world renowned for his lack of patience, not holding back in his opinion and his knack for telling it like he wants it. Better yet Tom had the biggest heart I have ever seen. He was compassionate and caring. He would give the shirt off his back to a person in need.
Famously opinionated and a big teddy bear, At the age of 66, Tom had a larger-than-life persona and trademark stubbornness. He was generous to a fault, a pussy cat at heart, more loving than he would ever show.
He will be forever loved and missed more than he will ever know!
Following his wishes;
A come and go reception in memory of Tom will be held at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton 503 Cope Lane in Stonebridge on Thursday June 8th, 2023 between 5:00pm to 7:00pm
He was never one for a sent sentiment or original religiosity, but he wanted you to know that if you are unable to attend, well wishes are encouraged. Or write a farewell note on a rolling paper and smoke it in his honor.
Or even do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in his name.”
