Tolu's obituary
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
Psalm 139:14

Words from her debate coach, John Julian:
All teachers and coaches have, amidst the myraid of young faces that pass through our doors, those select few students who nest in our minds and imprint indelible memories. One such little bird is Tolu Sobande. Tolu had an infectuous energy that nobody could match. Her smile was bright enough to light an entire city, and her heart was big enough to love the whole world 100 times over. There were none like her among all my students.
We stayed connected after my retirement from coaching. She was on the last team I ever coached. She would check in regularly to make sure I was ok, or to let me know if she wasn't. And every once in awhile she would contact me for advice. Last month, we discussed her desire to get an advanced degree and discussed the various options before her... brainstorming pros and cons. She was headed for a career in a field to help people... such was her passion and love for her fellow humans. Yesterday, that enormous, ever-loving heart fell silent. That brilliant smile faded into the ether like the Cheshire Cat. And those of us whose lives she touched weep for the loss.
Thank you, Tolu, for a race well run... a life well lived, if only too brief by our understanding. The world today is more dim than before, but Heaven shines that much more radiant having acquired your beautiful soul. Rest now, little angel. Prayers for comfort and peace for those who remain behind and mourn our loss. Until we meet again. 💔
