Todd's obituary
On Friday, January 13, 2023, Todd Carl Summers unexpectedly passed away in the hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Todd was born on December 27, 1963, in Gooding, ID, to Dennis Arlo Summers and Loretta May Woolley Myers. He was the fourth child of six: Grant, Pamela, Mark, Jennifer, and Jason.
Growing up, Todd loved riding horses, skiing, and camping with his grandparents at Alturas Lake and Stanley Basin. He was baptized at 8, received the priesthood at 12, and enjoyed being a cub scout and proud member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Todd lettered all four high school years in football, basketball, and tennis. He graduated from Gooding High School in 1982 and furthered his education at Brigham Young University for three semesters before transferring to Boise State University. He graduated from Boise State University in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
First job, Erkins in Bliss (they will find that out)
In 1990, Todd started working for National General Insurance in Boise. He mentored, coached, and led teams, including the Senior Rep Program. With hard work and dedication, he received multiple top producer awards and #1 finishes. He was a Munneke Spirit Award winner. The company’s Senior VP says it is “an honor given to those who go above and beyond, in not only their personal pursuits but in their passion for lifting up others and bettering the lives of those around them.”
Todd married Lisa Farmer in 1993, bringing Todd’s pride and joy into the world: Austin Carl, Sean Todd, Lauren Lynn, and Joshua Chase. Todd and Lisa later divorced.
Family was everything to Todd; he spent many hours devoted to his kids’ education, talents, and hobbies. He loved spending time with his brothers and sisters at auctions, playing cards, family gatherings, traveling, and trying new things.
On June 10, 2011, Todd married the love of his life and best friend, Joslyn Rae Ward, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Boise, Idaho Temple. He added two more children to his family: Kastin James and Kelly Jae. They spent time camping, traveling, watching sports, and working in the yard as a family.
Becoming a grandpa to Austin and Ashley’s children Graham John, Brigham Dean, and Atlas Austin was one of Todd’s favorite titles. He loved playing with his grandsons. His legacy of love, hard work, and optimism will continue through his wife, children, grandchildren, mother, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Todd lived his life in service to all. If work ever needed to be done, Todd was there. He didn’t think about giving; he freely gave.
