Todd's obituary

Todd Greggory Black passed from this life to the next on March 15, 2021 in his Geneva, Illinois home at age 49. His generous heart, passion for doing the right thing and ability to create fun and humor from thin air made him immensely special. The impact he had on all who were blessed to know him is immeasurable.

His devotion to family was unparalleled. Everything he did was in service to them. His famous phrase “I’ll make it happen” will live in our hearts forever. And he often did make it happen. Whatever anyone needed, wherever, whenever... he was there. His priority has always been his loved ones.

Todd lived a full life of love, laughter and selflessness with a desire to make his mark on the world. He co-founded a tech professional services firm, Optomi, LLC, with his wife and their friends/business partners Michael and Radka Winwood. As the champion of charity and strong corporate culture, he created an incredible platform in which to live out his vision.

Todd’s charisma was larger than life. He could light up a room and hold a conversation about almost anything. He was always consuming information... especially about his favorite sports. There wasn’t a stat he couldn’t recite or a game he couldn’t recount, especially about his beloved Indiana University.

Todd is survived by the love of his life, Christen Black, his loving daughter Jessica [age 19] and his sweet son Jacob [age 15].

Son of Ray and Judy Black of Crown Point, Indiana. Brother to Lori and Keith Hanaway, Douglas and Melissa Black, Scott and Diana Black, Amy & Hank Schilling; Son-in-law to Efrain and Barbara Rivera and Brother-in-law to Kelly Rivera, Danielle and David Creamons, Deanne and Kenny Lach and many precious nieces & nephews... mentor and motivator to all.

The family wishes to honor him with a visitation Monday, March 22nd at their home church of Christ Community Church, St. Charles, IL from 5pm - 8pm. A grave-site funeral service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva, IL on Tuesday, March 23rd followed by a Celebration of Life event from 3pm - 9pm at Eagle brook Country Club, Geneva, Illinois.

We’re setting up a charity fund in his name, please look for posts regarding donations in the next couple weeks. Todd would have appreciated your giving spirit in lieu of flowers.
