After a three-year battle with cancer, we are heartbroken to share that our mom, Tina Whitson, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Santa Monica, California at the age of 59. She spent her last days surrounded by friends and family and left us peacefully.

A rock and source of strength, Tina has spent her life sacrificing to provide for her family. As a single mom of three children, Tina worked two and three jobs to make sure her kids had everything they could need in life, always putting others needs before her own. If you knew Tina, you knew her grandkids were the light of her life and she loved showing their photos and activities off to friends (and probably strangers too).

Tina was a gifted nurse who found her calling in caring for ICU patients. A nurse for almost thirty years, countless people are alive because of her. Throughout her nursing career, she worked as a bedside nurse — preferring night shift where she could focus on bedside care — a nurse manager and director, and a college instructor. She left a lasting impression on her patients, coworkers, students, and employees.

While Tina spent most of her adult life in the California desert, her happy place was the ocean. She loved trips to Ventura with friends and family, and would never say no to Hawaii.

Tina leaves us with a lasting legacy of hard work, selflessness, care for others, and the drive to always be better.

She requested a private, intimate memorial service to celebrate her life in one of her favorite places.
