Tina's obituary
Tina Cecile Sinks Chism was born on February 6, 1961, the youngest of seven children to Floyd Karie Sinks and Juanita Langston Sinks. She lost both of her parents at the age of 15, a loss that deeply shaped her resilient and compassionate spirit.
Tina graduated from Hermitage High School in 1979 and went on to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Arkansas State University. It was during her time at ASU that she met and later married the love of her life, John Paul Chism of Jonesboro, AR.
Together, they welcomed twin daughters, Deanna and Deatra, and eventually made their home in Olive Branch, Mississippi, where they have lived for the past 30 years. Over the years, their daughters blessed them with eight grandchildren and one great-grandson, filling Tina’s life with immense joy and pride.
Tina had a long and dedicated career at Allstate, where she worked for 28 years. She passed away on June 20, 2025, just ten days after being diagnosed with lymphoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Juanita Sinks; her beloved sister, Connie York; her sister Jo Carol, who passed in infancy; and her brother Steven, who passed as a toddler, and her brother Ross Sinks, who also died from cancer.
Tina is survived by her devoted husband, John Paul; her daughters, Deanna Max (Rickie Max Jr.) and Deatra Chism (Patrick Seiler); her eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; her sisters, Donna Ozment and Diana Stell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tina will be remembered for her warmth, humor, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in all who knew and loved her.
