Timothy's obituary

Timothy Samuel Whitney, age 61, passed away on February 20, 2024. Tim grew up in Brunswick, Ohio and moved with his family to Savannah, Tennessee when he was 15 years old. He attended Hardin County High School in 1977 – 1979 and then graduated from LaSalle High School in South Bend, Indiana in 1980. After high school, Tim was in the United States Air Force and served his country for 17 years. Tim loved his church family in Brandon, Florida and was blessed to serve the less fortunate with a grocery and breakfast ministry.

Tim is survived by his immediate family:

  • James Charles Whitney, Sr. (Father) - South Bend, Indiana
  • James Charles Whitney, Jr. - Savannah, Tennessee
  • Robert Thornton Whitney - San Diego, California
  • Thomas Gregory Whitney - Terra Haute, Indiana
  • Mary Teresa Opfer (Whitney) - South Bend, Indiana
  • Theodore Gresham Whitney - Lynchburg, Virginia
  • Michelle Casteel - Savannah, Tennessee

He is preceded in death by:

  • Edna (Judy) Jeanette Gresham (Mother)
  • Jamesetta Collette Whitney (sister)
  • Jeffrey Andrew Whitney (brother)
  • Cherie Ann Young (sister)
  • John Whitney (brother)
  • Peter Whitney (brother)

Tim would want everyone to know that in September of 1996, he placed his faith in the sufficient work of Jesus Christ. He was baptized in January 1997. Today, Tim is no longer sick and he is in the presence of his Savior.

Services were held on Monday, March 11 at the First Baptist Church in Savannah, Tennessee.  Tim has been laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
