Tim's obituary
Timothy John Prigge, 58, of Key West, Florida, passed away at home surrounded by love on February 21st, leaving behind a legacy as wide and deep as the sea he cherished. Tim was born in Winona, Minnesota, where he had fond memories of childhood. As an adult he moved to Wisconsin, where his family still resides. He followed his compass south to the Florida Keys, where salty air and open water became home.
He is greeted in Heaven by his beloved parents, Carol and John Prigge. Tim lives on through his daughters, Alexandra Sayre and Marlee Prigge- whom he loved fiercely and raised to carry forward his vivacious, adventurous spirit- and through his grandson, William Sayre, and grandson on the way, Lincoln Sayre. He is also survived by his much-loved siblings, Brian Prigge, John Prigge, and Tanya Humke, and many extended family members, friends, and fellow mariners whose lives he touched.
Tim was a boat Captain, adventurer, traveler, gifted cook, and true man of the sea. For more than 30 years, he lived aboard his sailboat "out on the hook," anchored in the waters of Key West, where his life unfolded with tides and sunsets rather than calendars. He helped hundreds of visitors experience unforgettable moments on the ocean, sharing not just his charter boat, but his knowledge, stories, and love for the water.
A trusted neighbor at sea, Tim was always ready with advice, tools, or a helping hand when someone needed it. He loved his bicycle, camping under open skies, and the simple joys of a life well-lived. Though he had carefully planned and long hoped to set sail through the Caribbean and beyond- cancer, and God- had other plans. Even so, Tim met life's changing winds with grace, unbelievable courage, and a steady heart.
Above all else, family was his anchor. His love for his daughters was boundless, and his greatest accomplishment was raising them to be strong, curious, and unafraid of adventure—just like their dad.
Timothy John Prigge now sails free, forever following the horizon, forever at home on the water.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness”.
