Timothy's obituary

Timothy James Poulin, longtime resident of Marlboro, New York, passed away on the night of December 25. He was born in Rockville Centre, Long Island, the son of James C. Poulin and Lillian L. Poulin (nee Dawes).

He graduated from Marlboro High School and received his Associate's degree at Dutchess Community College. He achieved the rank of Major in the US Army Reserves, and earlier in life served in the Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Samson, as well as the National Guard. He worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW electrical union 363, where he taught apprenticeship.

He played bass guitar in the band, The Velvet Touch, performing at local venues in the 70s and 80s, and more recently, sang in the church choir at Christ Lutheran Church. He was a longtime car enthusiast, and everyone recognized him when he passed by, driving his bright orange, vintage 1974 Volkswagen "Thing" which he restored himself.

He was a jack-of-all trades, fixing everything around the house that he built with his own two hands, and maintaining the surrounding property. He was a caring and loving father, who never hesitated to help his daughters when they needed him. He was known to his granddaughter as "Grampy" and he always looked forward to video chatting with her.

He leaves behind a wife, Kathleen E. Poulin, of Marlboro, daughter, Aimee K. Mikulicz, son-in-law Matthew Mikulicz and granddaughter Lilah G. Mikulicz, of Deerfield Beach FL, daughter Ashley D. Poulin of Marlboro, and two sisters, Pamela L. Poulin of Preble, NY and Talitha L. Poulin of Rochester, NY. He is now reunited with his eldest daughter, Rebecca E. Poulin, who predeceased him in 1997.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Funeral service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church. Newburgh, N.Y. on Friday, January 7 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Mossl officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Highland, N.Y. The family asks that only those who are vaccinated attend. Masks are required, and church seating will be limited.
