Tim's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Timothy Burke, who left us too soon on Feb 19, 2024. Born on Aug 27, 1984, Timothy’s unique personality touched many lives in his 39 years. Known affectionately as Tim or Timmy, his character was best described as possessing a razor-sharp sense of humor, eccentric yet endearing, always ready with a funny quip or a goofy grin. His kindness towards those in need knew no bounds, making him a true gem in the hearts of many who were lucky to cross his path.

Tim leaves behind a loving family who will remember him forever. He is survived by his mother, Cindy Burke, his father, Michael Burke, his sister, Jennifer Burke & her fiancé Justin Komins, his grandmother, Vivian Paige, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. They, along with the rest of us, will miss him dearly.

In 2006, Tim began serving in the United States Navy. Later in life, he began attending the Massachusetts Maritime Academy in 2023, further asserting his nautical interests and commitment. Having grown up working for his family’s landscaping business and painting professionally for over 20 years Tim was known as an exceptionally hardworking individual. As a student, his greatest accomplishment was his consistent straight-A performance.

A true epicure, Tim had a deep appreciation for good food. He enjoyed all seafood, most especially oysters and lobster, and his love for sweets was well represented by his fondness for sour candy and chocolate chip cookies. Not only did Tim have a knack for trying new foods, but he also loved cooking. Outside of the kitchen, Tim relished the tranquility and discipline of yoga. His love for the water was evident in his frequent jumps in the ocean regardless of the time of year as well as many fishing and white-water rafting trips with his friends and family.

Tim was an avid reader and was especially interested in the Master and Commander series, as well as history and war novels. He also enjoyed the thrill of Quentin Tarantino movies and held a particular fondness for In Bruges. Some of his favorite music included the Irish punk band The Pogues, and the Australian rock band INXS. Contributing to his sense of humor Tim was a huge fan of comedy podcasts and stand-up, most notably Tom Segura, Theo Von, and Jim Jeffries.

In life, Tim displayed a unique perspective. "What not to do" was his unconventional mantra for guiding others, an approach that spoke to his humorous and unique outlook on life. His self-deprecating humor, coupled with his kindness, left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Tim’s passing leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but the memories he shared with his loved ones will forever be cherished and celebrated.
