Tim's obituary

Timothy “Tim” Gaffney, born January 24, 1949, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, to Robert and Jean Gaffney, went home to the Lord on March 12th, 2026.

Tim attended Saint Agnes Elementary School and Marian Catholic High School, where he was an active and accomplished student. He served as student body president, was captain of the football team, and competed on the track team as a shot putter. After graduating in 1967, Tim continued his football career at Northern Illinois University—Go Huskies! He later earned his MBA in Business Marketing.

Tim began his professional career with Richardson Vicks Corporation in New York. Eventually relocating to Texas, he met and married his late wife, Carol. In 1983, Tim and Carol adopted their beautiful daughter, Sheana. Tim cherished family time spent with Sheana and his many nieces and nephews.

A longtime and devoted member of the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, Tim served faithfully on the Vestry and as a Lay Eucharistic Minister. His faith and service were an important part of his life and community.

Following in his parents’ entrepreneurial footsteps, Tim founded his own business, On Target Recruiting. As an executive recruiter, he built a successful company that worked with major organizations including Uniden and Samsung.

At age 65, Tim found love again when he met Nancy Higdon. The two married soon after and shared twelve wonderful, adventure-filled years together. They traveled the world, enjoyed many cruises, and treasured time spent at their beach home in South Padre Island. Tim had a gift for friendship and was warmly loved by all who knew him.

Tim is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his daughter, Sheana; his stepdaughter, Jennifer and her husband Stephen; and his grandsons, Davis, Landon, and Ayden. He is also survived by his brothers Dean and his wife Chris, Glenn and his wife Colleen, and Doug and his wife Marybeth, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carol; his parents, Robert and Jean; and his nephew Kenny.

A service celebrating Tim’s life will be held on Friday, April 10th at 10:00 am at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany. The service will also be live streamed for those out of town guests unable to attend in person.

In lieu of flowers, and if so led, charitable donations may be made in Tim’s memory to Marian Catholic High School in Chicago, Illinois, or to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Richardson, Texas.
