Tim's obituary
We are truly thankful to our respective families for their support that enabled us to rally around Tim. This includes Dave’s wife, Sandy and family; Allan’s wife, Marnie and family and Brian’s wife, Jackie and family. Notably, we would like to thank Rob’s wife, Maureen and family to whom we are eternally grateful for opening their home to us once again, housing and feeding us and providing moral support despite facing challenges in supporting their own family. Thank you for your love and encouragement.
We as brothers were fortunate to spend quality time with Tim, forging lasting memories with trips to the mountains, Tyrrel Museum, pubs, to Cochrane for Mackay’s Ice Cream, multiple drives, visits to coffee shops, and to a friend’s acreage in Olds. Our recent experiences showed Tim’s zest for life never waned despite the tremendous challenges he faced. Tim faced these challenges with both stoicism and courage – his sharp wit and humour continued unabated. Tim’s passion for music shared with his band-mates in Eden’s End had him jamming with the band just a few days before his passing, is a yet another example of this. Tim was rightly proud of the band and their music.
With Covid adding yet another layer of challenge, Rob organised an outdoor fireplace and barbecued some smokies in front of Tim’s house - we managed to share a few beers across the globe, pay tribute and spend precious time with Tim in his final days.
As a brother, I feel privileged to have been able to spend time with Tim – notably our visit to Scott Kellock’s acreage in Olds where Tim had the chance to turn back the clock by riding an ATV through the snow – The sound of Tim whooping and hollering like a teenager is permanently etched and a memory I will hold dear.
Tim remained a dedicated husband, father, friend, brother, cousin, colleague and will be mourned deeply by all those who knew him and who rallied around Tim to support him throughout a very difficult year. Our parents, Bob and Kaye were extremely proud of Tim and supported him throughout his academic and sporting pursuits in hockey, baseball and in swimming when Tim swam competitively for many years – the same way he supported his sons, Daniel and Aidan. Mom and Dad would have been truly proud of Tim in the manner he handled this past year.
Our lives have been busy raising kids and our paths have been varied over time across the globe, but we are truly proud of Tim and thankful that in his final chapter, we as brothers were able to support him. We were there for him along with his family and friends to ensure he felt our love. We are all in sorrow but also thankful to Tim for bringing us together and for his courage in living his life on his own terms. We are united in our love for Tim and miss him deeply.
As per JoAnne's request in lieu of flowers or cards, please feel free to donate in Tim’s name to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (www.braintumor.ca) or a charity of your choice.
