Timothy's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Tim Duttry on Wednesday night, November 5, 2025, at Broward Health Imperial Point in Florida. He was 56 years old.
Tim faced the challenges of Crohn’s disease for forty years—nearly his entire adult life. The illness brought with it severe physical and psychological hardship, yet Tim met every day with humor, grace, and quiet courage. Despite the pain he endured, he rarely let it show, greeting family, friends, and even strangers with warmth and wit.
The recent death of his father Dennis Duttry, just two months ago, had a deep and lasting impact on Tim’s health and spirit. The grief of that loss triggered a Crohn’s flare from which his body could not recover. Though the toll was immense, Tim remained surrounded by love—the unwavering support of his family, friends, and his devoted husband Charles Mahan, whose care and companionship sustained him through the most difficult years.
A talented artist and creative spirit, Tim graduated from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and also attended the New England School of Design. His artistic eye and imagination led him to a rewarding career as a graphic designer for MTV, where his work reflected his unique sense of style and creativity. Beyond his professional life, Tim gave generously of his time, volunteering for several years as a recreational assistant for adults with disabilities—an experience that brought him great joy and purpose.
Tim found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time on the Seaside Heights boardwalk, with his beloved dogs, and sharing his passion for art by teaching private painting classes. His laughter, kindness, and genuine curiosity about others made him a cherished friend and companion to all who knew him.
Tim leaves behind not only those who loved him but also a legacy of humor, compassion, and creativity. His ability to connect deeply with others and to find beauty and joy despite hardship will live on in the many lives he touched.
