I served with Tim, or as we knew him Whiz on the 1982 Blue Angels Team.  I was an applicant his first year on the team in 1981.  As anyone who knows, being an applicant for an elite group of individuals isn’t exactly the easiest, most comfortable experience. Whiz could not have been kinder and went out of his way to make me, as well as all the other applicants feel welcome.

When I arrived as a Nubie in October of 1981, he welcomed me with open arms.  I always loved his dry humor, but especially his innate kindness.  I was dating my future wife, Jan, at the time and both he and Jean welcomed her and treated her like she really belonged. Jean went out of her way to include her whenever she was around.

Our wedding was really special due to the attendance of the entire team, including Tim, Jean and their kids.

I will never forget that kindness and sense of family that both Whiz and Jean brought to our team, and losing him to such a terrible disease at such a young age has been devastating to all of us. The last 9 months have been extraordinarily difficult with the loss of  Jim Ross (Jungle) and now Whiz - the only comfort has been all of the wonderful memories that have been rekindled and the bringing together of so many who have meant so much in our lives.

Whiz, you left us way too soon - thank you for being part of my life.
