Timothy's obituary

Timothy Coleman

February 1, 1955 – November 25, 2024

Timothy Coleman, a father, son, brother, grandfather, mentor, and friend, passed away on November 25, 2024, at the age of 69, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born in White Plains, New York, Tim grew up in Silver Lake, New Jersey, where his love for the beach, water, and boats began. In 1980, he settled on Long Island, New York, where he spent over four decades building a life dedicated to helping others. In 2021, he moved to Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to enjoy his later years surrounded by family.

Tim’s career in human services, spanning more than 45 years, was nothing short of transformative. A graduate of Manhattan College and the University of Bridgeport with a Master’s in School Psychology, he dedicated his life to serving individuals with developmental disabilities. Tim was instrumental in implementing programs that created opportunities for independence and inclusion for countless individuals, ensuring they could lead fulfilling lives.

Tim’s contributions provided individuals and families alike with the support they so desperately needed. He was a trailblazer in developing after-school programs for the developmentally disabled, establishing 24/7 hotlines, and securing resources that turned innovative ideas into everyday realities.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Tim cherished his children, grandchildren, mother, brothers, and many close friends. He was known for his unique sense of humor - sometimes just information called a “Tim joke,” and for his unique ability to attempt to fix anything with glue, tape, and a little ingenuity.

Tim is survived by his loving family and a legacy of kindness, and dedication. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for his compassion and the difference he made in the lives of so many.

A celebration of Tim’s life will be held in the Spring.
