Timothy's obituary

Timothy (Tim) James Cartier passed away early in the morning on January, 26 2026 while visiting his sailboat in Samana, in the Dominican Republic.

Tim loved sailing the Caribbean with his wife Sue onboard their boat and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Tim was one of eight children and moved with his family from Michigan to Arizona at the age of 10. He was an eternally curious person and loved adventure.

Tim joined the US Navy in 1970 and served for six years as an Electronics Technician onboard various ships.

During his enlistment in the Navy, Tim met and married his wife Margaret (Peggy) Aarskaug. After his service they moved to Tucson where both attended the University of Arizona and Tim received a BS in Electrical Engineering. He began working with Hewlett-Packard and distinguished himself in sales.

Tim’s life was an adventure from start to finish. He enjoyed sailing, scuba diving, fishing in Alaska, hiking and canyoneering. He was known for his dry sense of humor, his ability to fix almost anything and his philanthropic spirit. He was always willing to lend a hand to a stranger.

Tim is preceded in death by his wife Peggy, his father John Cartier, his mother Estelle Cartier and his brother Christopher Cartier.

He is survived by his daughter Katie, his son Tom and three grand children, his wife of 12 years Sue as well as six brothers and sisters.

Tim was a supportive and good hearted person who left a legacy of kindness.
