Tim's obituary

Thomas “Tim” J Kerr, 71, of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on November 27, 2023 after a brief illness.

Tim grew up in Redford, Michigan. He received a B.S. in Surveying from Ferris State University in 1981, became a licensed surveyor in 1983, and completed an M.S. in Geodesy from Purdue University in 1984. Starting in 1985, Tim spent most of his career at Leica Geosystems, where he pursued excellence in surveying in many capacities, including support, training, sales and product development, and project management services for users of modern surveying technologies. He was a dedicated friend and mentor who never hesitated to support his fellow surveyors in their careers.

Tim met Maureen in Logan, Ohio on a Geology field trip. Several years later they married and moved to Colorado to be near the great national parks, where they raised their two daughters, Nessa and Emma. Tim loved supporting his daughters in all of their academic, artistic, and athletic pursuits. He was proud of their accomplishments and dedication to pursuing careers and interests they are truly passionate about. Tim and Maureen loved visiting National Parks together, and the Kerr family has many fond memories of road trips in the west together.

Tim was fond of coffee, chocolate, and very spicy foods and looked forward to trying new cuisines on his trips. He was fascinated with space and planes and visited air and space museums wherever he went. Adventurous for life, Tim took parachuting lessons and even flew in a glider plane. He also loved sharing photos and stories of his travels.

Tim is survived by his wife, Maureen, his daughters, Nessa and Emma, his brother John, his sister, Jane, his nephews, Christopher and Kyle, and his niece, Kaylie. He is greatly missed and will be remembered fondly by many.
