Tia Theresa Duerbusch, beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend to many passed away too soon at the age of 53 on October, 6 2022.  To know Tia was to love her.  Tia touched every person who was lucky enough to meet her; for those closest to her – the luckiest ones – she was and will always be the anchor and the mama bear to her children, the lighthouse, and the trumpet of our lives. Her outer beauty was outshined only by the pure beauty that existed inside of her. Tia’s was a special brand of magic: she was the strongest, deepest, strong-willed, fiercest, and most loving human being any of us ever knew. 

Tia was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan on February 16, 1969 to the late Larry (Linda) Payne and was the oldest of two children.   She graduated from Chippewa Valley High School in 1987, and received her B.A. in English from Albion College in 1991. She leaves behind the love of her life, Darryl, whom she married on July 14, 1995, as well as her four beautiful children: Reed, Ali, and Gavin and her nephew Brian.  She was completely devoted to her family & her community.  There are no words to capture all that she was to so many people.

Tia is survived by her husband of 27 years, Darryl, her daughter, Ali, her sons, Reed and Gavin, her nephew, Brian, her sister, Taja, and countless family members, friends, and loved ones. 

 A Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, October 28th at 6:30 p.m.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Carpathia Club on Saturday, October 29th starting at 11:30 a.m.
