Thor was a student of mine way back in the ’70s or ‘early 80’s and of course at FarmFest 76 he was a great help on hard, hot work. We had 300,000 people through there. His master’s thesis was certainly one of the best ever. I think it was publishable and certainly remains current in our always evolving world and mobile populations. I know he received a lot of grief from people who should have been more receptive to his discovery of a paleo site, but it just didn’t see to fit the paradigm of of the moment (although it should have). So he rocked the archaeological barge, BUT he was right and that matters. He was a totally outstanding, memorable student and a big help when we needed it at FarmFest where we all learned a lot and we were, by far, the most visited display to more than a quarter of a million people. Jill is an amazing person, generous with her superlative artistic skills and always a pleasure to talk to. Jill certainly did some incredibly good work illustrating many archaeological artifacts for me.

The Olmanson family has my deepest sympathy. Very glad Jill and Thor got a chance to reconnect! I am extremely fortunate to have been able to spend a lot of time with Thor, from 8th grade up until my mid thirties. Some of my best memories are from quite possibly Thors favorite place in the world, the Boundary Waters canoe area. We had many great trips! He was a great woodsman and taught me everything about traveling in the wilderness. Thor was always looking for adventure. One time he insisted we take a cruise at midnight in a blizzard in his Model A. Quite the experience! We eventually got stuck many miles from home, He will be greatly missed. He will definately rest in peace! He is the most peaceful person I have ever known!

Thor was a very special individual to me. We were close friends for 21 years and his passing has left a huge void in my soul. He had faith in me when I didn’t even have faith in myself and he gave me the self confidence that has allowed me to accomplish what I never thought I could. I am comforted knowing he is watching over me, whispering to my heart advice and encouragement. His legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. ❤️
