Thomas's obituary

Thomas Sylvan Zell, beloved husband, father, and community member, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2024. He was 75 years old.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, on November 16, 1948, Thomas was the son of Paul and Elenor Zell. Thomas attended Fordson High, where he excelled academically and formed lifelong friendships with Ron, Don, and Dennis Kozinki.  Thomas graduated High School in 1967.

Thomas's professional life was marked by dedication and excellence. Thomas began his career at Ford Motor Company. Thomas was drafted into the Military and Served his Country in the Army; he was stationed in Korea. After his military tour, he returned to Ford Motor company taking advantage of all the tools and training that Ford had to offer and where his hard work and integrity earned him the respect of colleagues. He approached his work with a tireless commitment to excellence, always striving to make a positive impact in the lives of those around him. After 33 years of service, he retired from Ford Motor Company in 2002.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Thomas will be remembered most for his unwavering devotion to his family. He was a devoted father to Jason Zell (52), Jerrid Zell (48) and Julie Stanley (43), and a cherished grandfather to Amy Zell (17), Aria Stanley (17), Bridget Zell (15), Aidric Stanley (13), and his close sister, Andi McCoy. His family was the center of his world, and he took great joy in spending time with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

In addition to his dedication to his family and career, Thomas was an active member of his community. He generously volunteered his time and resources to various charitable organizations, always seeking to make a difference in the lives of those in need. He also, enjoyed such hobbies as league bowling, ceramics and woodworking. His kindness, compassion, and selflessness touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Thomas leaves behind a legacy of love, good humor, kindness, and integrity that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was wise and shared his experiences and wisdom with friends and family alike. While his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
