Thomas's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Evan "Tombo" VanScoyoc, who was guided safely home to God on April 20, 2024 peacefully, gently, and completely surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 29, 1962, Thomas was known to many and loved by all. Affectionately nicknamed "Tombo" by family, and known by friends and colleagues as "Tommy," he was a bright light of love and happiness to everyone he encountered.
Thomas was a man of great wit, generosity, and love. These qualities were ever-present in his relationships and interactions, and they left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to have known him. The word 'loving' was not just descriptive of Thomas, it was definitive.
Thomas was a lifelong car hauler of over 40 years and he put his whole heart into his work. Most recently, he worked for Forry Transport, Inc., a family-owned company of people for whom he held the highest respect.
His enthusiasm for action movies, beer, and Nascar racing were just a few of the many passions that defined him. He loved his country and was very passionate about the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. However, it was the more serene moments spent enjoying the outdoors and watching the birds that he treasured most. For Thomas, these peaceful moments of contemplation and joy were the essence of life.
Thomas is survived by his two daughters Cassie Lynn VanScoyoc and Megan Rose VanScoyoc, whose love and admiration for their father were equaled only by his for them. He is also survived by his sister Terry Lynn (VanScoyoc) Zaragoza, and her husband Frederick, and brother Adam Tate VanScoyoc, and his wife Heidi, and several neices and nephews who will cherish their memories of their beloved brother and uncle forever. His father, Adam Thomas VanScoyoc Jr., and his mother, Delores Marie (Nash) VanScoyoc, are heartbroken at the loss of their son, but take comfort in knowing Thomas' spirit lives on in those who knew and loved him.
Thomas was predeceased by his grandfather, Adam Thomas VanScoyoc Sr., his grandmother Sara E (Hoyland) VanScoyoc, his grandfather Evan William Nash, his grandmother Della M (Thomas) Nash, his uncle Terry Lawn VanScoyoc, his aunt Barbara Lee (Nash) Fisher and her husband Wayne Eugene Fisher, and his uncle Kenneth "Pete" L Mowery.
Thomas "Tombo" VanScoyoc will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His wit, his generosity, and his loving spirit will forever be part of the fabric of our lives. In his memory, let us celebrate life, love, and laughter, as he did every day, and always find a way to give.
"Keep smiling"
