Thomas's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a memorable man, Thomas "Tommy" Tillman III, who left us on June 19, 2024. Born on May 9, 1961, Thomas, also known as Tommy, was a man of many virtues. Although he responded to Thomas, those close to him knew he preferred being called Tommy.
Thomas leaves behind his adored daughters, Alisha Watters (David) and Tabitha Laney (Christopher), along with their children Jonathan and Jackon Watters; and Connor and Raven Laney, along with his one great granddaughter Emersyn Laney. His loss is also deeply felt by his father, Thomas Tillman Jr., and his sister, Deborah Tillman. Thomas was predeceased by his mother Miriam Tillman and beloved wife, Linda Tillman, whose memories he held dear to his heart.
Thomas was a man of many talents and wore many hats throughout his life. He was a erudite individual who graduated high school from Lancaster High School, Lancaster, SC in 1979. Thomas then furthered his education at York Technical College, Rock Hill, SC, earning a Beginning Floral Design Certificate in 1985, followed by two Advanced Floral Design Certificates in 1986.
In 1993, he married Linda Tillman and later, in 2023, he moved to Palatka, FL, where he enjoyed the best of what life had to offer.
Thomas was a dedicated attendee at Crestview Baptist Church, with his faith being one of the causes closest to his heart, along with Animal Rights. He was known for his sarcastic wit, which always brought a smile to those around him. He had a diverse range of interests, including relaxing on the beach, reading any John Grisham novels, and appreciating beach art.
Thomas was proud of his two daughters, considering them as his greatest achievements. His legacy will be remembered through the love he left with his family and friends. A quote that he held close to his heart was one from his mother's funeral, "To me, a man is not a man ... if he cannot be true to his own words... and commitments."
Thomas’s life was full of love, laughter, and an appreciation for the simple things. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will be cherished forever by those who knew and loved him.
