Thomas's obituary

Thomas L. Storms, 59, of DeLand, FL, passed away on March 21, 2022, after a battle with a number of health issues including COPD.

Thomas was born on October 15, 1962, to Fredrick and Joann Storms in Carmel, New York. Thomas, called Tommy or Tom by his friends and family, grew up in Brewster, New York where he enjoyed being with his siblings and many cousins. Tom was a part of the Garry Owen Cadets; he was famous for playing the bass drum. After high school, Thomas landed his first job as a pressman with Brady and Palmer. In the 80s, Tom joined Gannett Newspaper for several years where he was promoted to an Assistant Foreman in 1991. After 1995, Tom became a man of many trades including painter, carpenter, and craftsman.

Anyone who knew Tom knew that he was a man of very few words but had a big heart. Thomas' children meant more to him than anything else in the world. He was unendingly proud of his children; Nina Storms (Hubert), Crystal Jourdan (Chris), and Thomas Storms Jr (Sarah), and always carried their pictures of them. Thomas is survived by children, Nina, Crystal, and TJ, along with his grandchildren Izzi, Sophia, and Noah. He is also survived by his siblings, Fredrick, Melissa, and Stephan, and both parents, Fredrick, and Joann Storms. Tom was also “Uncle” to many nieces and nephews.

Tom was also known for his passion for film and sports. He was a super fan of John Wayne, a Hollywood legend, and could often be found watching his movies when at home. In music, he was a follower of Led Zeppelin and went to many concerts when he was younger. With sports, Tom was a true NASCAR fan and always rooted for his hometown New York Yankees and Jets.

There will be a private viewing with immediate family. Tom's ashes will be divided among his children and spread with love.  A memorial service will be planned at a future date.  The family requests that donations be made in Tom's name to the COPD Foundation.org and/or The National Pancreas Foundation.org.

"Goodbyes are not forever, it simply means I miss you until we meet again.”
