I was greatly saddened to hear of Tom's passing. Tom was an incredible person and a hell of a guy. He took me under his wing as a young man and showed me a lot about construction, life, and how to treat people with love, kindness and generosity. When I chose to remodel my first home and asked my buddy from work for a few pointers, I never imagined all that I would learn and all that Tom would offer. My deepest and most sincere condolences.

Deb Schirber and family,
My condolences to all of you on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. I went to St. Mary's with Tom and Deb, and lived down the block from the Schirbers. I didn't have contact withTom and Deb after high school but hooked up again with Tom on Facebook a few years ago. His posts always showed the love he had for Deb, their children and also their grandchildren and his love to travel in the RV to visit his grandchildren in California (and elsewhere). And he also seemed to love the rehabbing work he did on homes for Urban Homeworks. One amusing anectdote I have from high school is Tom jokingly threaten to beat me up because I was Deb's 'partner' for our march into our graduation ceremony from SMCHS in 1969. I always felt bad for Deb about that.
May you all cherish together the good memories you have of Tom and he will always be in your hearts.

Dear Deb and the Schirber family, My deepest condolences to all of you. Our families grew up just a block away, we played together and put on backyard performances for the neighborhood parents. It was a time I will never forget.
I am so sorry to hear this news and so impressed by Tom's dedication to the communities in which he lived and worked. Love and prayers to all of you.

I was sorry to hear Tom had recently passed away. Tom and Debbie were a year ahead of me in school. I was a teammate of Tom’s at Cathedral and at St. Mary’s. He was an outstanding FB, great student and had a wonderful voice. My condolences to Debbie and all of Tom’s family and loved ones. May he rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him. ✝️🙏❤️

My Dearest Debbie,
My heart aches for you. I know how much you and Tom loved each other although we had little contact after high school. Your wonderful Mother and I spoke often until they moved. I think often of your lovely parents as well. I knew Tom from the first grade through high school graduation. We had great alliances in grade school watching over each other in protection from the nuns. For some reason we were each targets. I remember his beautiful voice in the boys choir. I also remember his great courage when at St. John’s. That courage continued throughout his life and I am impoverished not to have spent any time with either of you except for one Christmas we all shared at your parents. He was far too young to pass but I know he leaves an incredible legacy of love, caring, compassion for others and self sacrifice. He will be remembered by the hundreds and more he touched, and you especially with Tom will always remain in my heart. All my best and love, Jane Fleck Romanov

Although he was older, I always admired Tom’s faith and musical ability. He was always kind and fun to be around. My condolences to all his family.

I'm so sorry to the Schirber family for your loss. Tom was such a fantastic human. He always had new ideas and ways to innovative and the thing I loved so much was his focus and heart to make those new ideas and innovations benefit the people most vulnerable among us. I'm so grateful for his fingerprints on my soul and life. Thank you, Tom. Thank you. I'm better because of you and ther world is a better place too.

I have the best memories of Uncle Tom, and family. I wish I could have visited more as I grew older, but the few times I was able, they was the best of times! The first trip to visit, I remember Uncle Tom had just gotten a Nespresso machine, and he was so excited to serve up a cup. And, it was very good! And when he took my kids and I for a drive, showing off his town! My thoughts are with the whole family as they navigate through this terrible time. I love you all!!
