Thomas Francis Rooney, Jr.

October 1, 1962 – February 27, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Thomas Francis Rooney, Jr., age 62, on February 27, 2025.

Born on October 1, 1962, in Natick, Massachusetts, Tom grew up in Melrose, where he cultivated his adventurous spirit and love for life. He attended college in Delhi, New York, on a wrestling scholarship before embarking on a dedicated career as an Ironworker. He was a proud member of Local 7 in Boston and later Local 433 in Las Vegas and California.

Tom was best known for his zest for life—he truly lived it his way. In his younger years, he found joy in working out, hitting the beach, skiing, and cruising in a convertible (even if it wasn’t always his!). He had an infectious energy, a quick wit, and a huge smile that could light up any room. His loud, boisterous laugh was unforgettable and contagious. A true and loyal friend, he will be remembered for his unwavering positivity and warm heart.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Frances Rooney of Wells, Maine. He leaves behind his cherished siblings: Joe and Nancy Rooney, Tricia (Rooney) and Bobby Ziehler, and Maryann (Rooney) and Lewis Fink. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for 2025 to honor Tom’s incredible spirit. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Humane Society
