Thomas Dean Powell

Tom Powell was born on July 9, 1952, in Independence, Kansas to John Powell and Lydia Ladene Fortney. He passed away on December 13, 2022, at the age of 70. Tom was a resident of Dewey, Oklahoma for 60 years. He retired as the Maintenance Supervisor at Macy’s. While working as a security guard to support his loving, devoted wife and their two children, he met Trudy Sanders, a high school cheerleader. After leaving his family and divorcing his wife, he married Trudy on February 28, 1976. Tom loved to go fishing and spending time outdoors with his “new family”.

He was preceded in death by his parents John Powell and Lydia Fortney Powell, and his son Jeffrey Powell. He is survived by his first wife Velma Powell, current wife Trudy Powell, his son Thomas Dean Powell Jr., his daughter-in-law Marilyn Powell, his daughter Sarah Keeler, his son Jimmy Powell, his daughter-in-law Vanessa Powell, his grandchildren Taryn Powell, Peyton Reitinger, Taylor Burns, Hayley Powell, Brandon Catlin, Cameron Misenhelter, Aiden Keeler, Mickel Hinds, Isabelle Burns, Parker Burns, Rhylie Powell, Aiden Powell, and Alaina Powell, his great-grandchildren Adelynn Powell, Arya Catlin, and Braxton Powell, his brothers John and wife Sue, Bob and wife Gwen, Bill and wife Sandy, and his sister Marilyn and husband Randy.

A memorial service was held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel.
