Thomas's obituary
On September 9th, 2020, at the age of 49, Thomas P. O’Connor passed away at Edward Hospital in Naperville, Illinois. Tom was born in New York and moved to Illinois at the age of six. For the past six years, he made his home in Naperville with his family.
Tom loved the holidays. He carried the magic and warmth of Christmas in his personality and reflected it in the way he made people feel—welcomed, appreciated, and loved.
If you knew Tom, you knew the fierce, protective love he had for his family. He had a flair for the spontaneous and kept his wife and daughters on their toes with surprise weekends and unplanned adventures. Tom had a rare gift for turning the ordinary into something special—transforming meetings into friendships, stories into raucous laughter, and simple errands into lifelong memories. We continue to live through Tom by being goofy, helpful, and holding onto the childlike enthusiasm for life that he radiated. His daughter Kailee describes him as “the smartest guy his friends and family could ever know.”
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Terese and John O’Connor; his brother Danny; his sister Mari; and his Uncle Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife, Carrie, and his two brilliant daughters, Madison and Kailee (and their beloved dog, Sumo). He is also survived by his sisters Julieanne and Jamie; cousins Jeannie, Thomas, Tammy, and Brian; his aunt Patty; his brothers Robert, David, and Howard; and close friends who were like family, Jason and April Engel.
He is deeply missed and forever loved by many more family and friends.
