Our family met the Muntz family when our kids started Latrobe school together in Shingle Springs.  We met at school activities, kids birthday parties and then of course via raising pigs in 4-H.   Tom was a great role model, and a person of the highest integrity.  Our heartfelt condolences, The Bales Family 

I got to know Tom through my older brother Tim when they were roommates at Utah State. All those Utah State roommates, Tim, Tom, Steve, Bo, Andy, Bob, Doug, made several trips to Brigham City for meals with our family. I remember going to Utah State and playing basketball with them. I’ll always remember a time when Tom was at our home in Brigham and getting in shape for the military. He would going running in those military boots and once I decided to go with him stating I would win his established route. We took off and I ran getting far in front, but he just kept his steady pace and soon overtook me winning the distance easily. I’ll never forget his laugh and he is one of the nicest people I’ve ever known. Prayers for your family. 

I knew Tom because he and my brother (Tim) were college roommates/friends.  Tom was so nice to me, his friend’s little sister, and truth be told, I had a bit of a crush on him!   All of the roommates would come to our house for Thanksgiving and other occasions.  Lots of good memories of Tom, Steve, and the other guys.  What a huge loss.  Sending my deepest condolences to all of the family.  

We all loved sports and the outdoors, but I think that Tom was definitely the best, most in-shape athlete of us “East Side Kids” in our four-year brotherhood of roommates, 1972-1976, at Utah State University: me, Tom Muntz, Steve Minch, Bob Shape, and Andy Pommier. Bo Yadegar, Doug Crine, and others soon joined us, adding their own zest and fun to the mix. We were originally named for the first place we lived together, The East High Rise men’s dorm, located directly next to the West High Rise women’s dorm. Tom was always amazing, effortlessly gliding down a wicked slope on his skis. Weaving through the defense, his lacrosse stick held high, to take a shot on goal. Jumping out of an airplane with Steve (I chickened out of that parachute adventure). He and Steve both becoming air force officers. Then, later in civilian life, Steve and Tom were back in the air, Steve as a life flight pilot in Utah, Donna a botany professor at her alma mater, Utah State University, and Tom flying a helicopter and teaming up with his flight nurse wife, Carrie, to save lives in the California skies. The two couples would form a close bond and travel around the U.S. and other countries on many adventures. Tom and Carrie came down to earth sometimes, on horseback with their sons Tyler and Curtis. And in the really old days back in the 70s, Tom was our cook, preparing meals for me, Steve, Andy, and Bob in another place where we lived together, SnowCrest Apartments, not far from the Utah State University campus in Logan. Tom would say, “Save some for me guys. You know I have two stomachs.” I suppose he had to eat so much because of his endless energy and activity, but you would never be able to tell. Tom, just the kindest, funnest, most talented guy to ever have the privilege to spend time with. My wife Kerry and I send our heartfelt love and condolences.

Tom was a great roommate and a great guy. My condolences to his entire extended family.

I'm sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I was a cadet when Tom landed the helicopter near the quad at the Academy and talked to my class about what his duties were as a pilot and the services our air operations provide. I've always remembered his name because my last name is Munns. I'm sorry for your loss.

One of my favorite memories of Tom is his telling of the llama/sheep story….. everytime I see a llama in a field of sheep I can’t help but laugh
